Aesthetic Record is EMR and practice management software with strong charting, memberships, photo management and its own payments. For an Australian cosmetic clinic, Clinic App is likely the stronger fit for two reasons: it runs the whole clinic in one system with one record per patient, and it is built around the AHPRA and TGA rules Australian clinics advertise under. Clinic App also hosts patient data in Sydney and is set up with your team in person. Choose Aesthetic Record if your clinic works to US systems and US hours.
Both systems cover a lot of the same ground: booking, payments, memberships, consent, charting and photos. The real difference is who each one is built for. Aesthetic Record's pages point to the United States. Clinic App is built for Australian cosmetic and skin clinics.
Every Aesthetic Record fact below links to its own website or help centre, read on 1 November 2026. Where they don't settle a question, we say so.
What does Aesthetic Record do well?
Aesthetic Record is a complete system with a clear price. Its homepage and pricing page list a wide set of tools.
- Charting and photos. "Procedure Charting & Tracking" on the pricing page, and "Before & After Photo & Video Management" on the homepage.
- Memberships and packages. The pricing page lists "Multiple Memberships", "Discounts & Package Creation" and "Monthly Treatment Subscriptions".
- Its own payments. The homepage lists "AR Pay", "Chart-to-Cart" and "Text2Pay", plus "Online Booking & eCommerce".
- Consent forms. Its help centre explains how to manage consent forms.
- AI for charting. "ChartSmart AI" is listed on the homepage and pricing page.
- A published price. The pricing page shows "Essentials $15 /month per User" plus a "$399 Startup & Onboarding Investment".
For a clinic that runs on memberships and detailed charting, that is a capable product. It is fair to say so.
Is Aesthetic Record built for Australian clinics?
Its pages point to the US. Aesthetic Record's pricing page quotes support hours in EST, and describes e-prescribing "on the Surescripts Network to 99% of US Pharmacies". The price is shown without a currency label. We found no Australian presence on the pages we read.
None of that makes it a weaker product. It does mean an Australian clinic should ask about support hours in its own time zone, where patient data is stored (the pages we read do not say), and how the system handles Australian advertising rules.
What does Clinic App cover in one system?
Clinic App puts bookings, money, repeat revenue and the clinical record on the same patient record. It was built inside working Australian cosmetic clinics, front desk first. It runs the diary and online booking, deposits and cards on file, front desk checkout and payments, memberships with monthly billing, packages, gift vouchers, rewards and points, a prepaid wallet, referrals, review requests, reminders, the waitlist, consent forms and intake, treatment records and photos, rosters, stock, multi-location and reports. One system, one login, one record per patient.
When a member walks in, reception sees their membership, rewards balance, signed consent and last treatment on the same record it uses to check them out. Loyalty points sit alongside memberships: on Aesthetic Record, the help article "Creating Your Client Loyalty Programs (Memberships)" describes paid memberships rather than points, so ask Aesthetic Record if points matter to you.
Which one is built around AHPRA and TGA rules?
Clinic App builds the rules Australian cosmetic clinics advertise under into the system. The Aesthetic Record pages we read do not mention AHPRA or the TGA.
The TGA's guidance on complying with the restrictions on advertising prescription medicines to the public says prescription medicines cannot be advertised to the public except in very limited circumstances. AHPRA's guidelines for advertising a regulated health service restrict testimonials and inducements. Clinic App builds in:
- Points, rewards, discounts and offers never apply to Schedule 4 (prescription-only) treatments.
- Prescription medicine names are kept off public, patient-facing promotional surfaces.
- Marketing campaigns and automatic messages are checked for prescription medicine names, including disguised spellings, before they can be sent.
- Review requests never offer points or rewards for a review, skip staff, and are checked for prescription medicine names.
- Consent keeps its wording. Consent forms are signed digitally, and the exact wording each patient agreed to is stored with their signature and versioned.
- Treatment records keep their history. Changes are amended or struck out, never deleted.
No software makes a clinic compliant on its own: the clinic and its practitioners stay responsible for their own advertising and care. Our guide to TGA and AHPRA rules for clinic loyalty, rewards and membership offers covers the detail.
Aesthetic Record is built for clinics working to US systems. Clinic App is built for Australian cosmetic clinics, around the AHPRA and TGA rules they advertise under.
How do the costs compare?
Aesthetic Record publishes a per-user price; Clinic App charges flat fees. The pricing page shows "Essentials $15 /month per User" plus a "$399 Startup & Onboarding Investment", shown without a currency label. Check with Aesthetic Record which currency applies and what a clinic of your size would pay.

Which should your clinic choose?
Aesthetic Record may suit you better if your clinic works to US systems and US hours, you want e-prescribing to US pharmacies, or you like a published per-user price and are comfortable checking the currency and the hosting yourself.
Choose Clinic App if you are an Australian cosmetic or skin clinic, you offer prescription treatments, and most of your revenue comes from memberships, packages and patients who rebook. Then it pays to have the desk, consent, membership billing and rewards on one record, with the AHPRA and TGA rules built in and patient data in Sydney. For the wider field, see our guide to the best aesthetic clinic software in Australia.
What does switching from Aesthetic Record to Clinic App involve?
We do the move with the clinic, and Zoe onboards in person. It starts with a free 45-minute Patient Revenue Audit, then we map how your clinic runs, including which treatments involve a prescription medicine, and set the system up to match before switch day.
Our importer is built for Fresha and Timely exports today. If you are coming from Aesthetic Record, bring your exports to the audit and we will go through exactly what moves and how before you commit. Members on monthly billing are the patients to contact first, and each patient gets a "re-save your card" link. More in how easy it is to switch clinic software.
